University of New Hampshire In 1963 the university system of new Hampshire was established which is responsible for overseeing the university of new Hampshire,keens state college ,Plymouth state university and keens state university.Post secondary education in new Hampshire is the largest provider for the university system.Single boards trustees was governed for the university of the system which is responsible for ensuring that each institution has unique character and educational mission.In 1961 by the governor Wesley Powell the decision to establish the
university system came from the recommendation of the interim commission for the higher commission.By establishing the university system the keens and Plymouth teachers colleges were

removed from the supervision on the state of the boards of education were renamed state colleges and place under the jurisdiction of the boards of the trustees of the university of new Hampshire. The establishment of the university system increased from 13 to 22 numbers of the trustees

First among equals was designated by the boards of the president of the university of the new Hampshire and assigned the responsibility to coordinate the activities of the university system. The trustees established the school of continuing studies in 1972 to serve the adult education needs of new Hampshire residents.There was a growing concern of the trustees over the steadily increasing amount of time that senior UNH officials had to devote to the growing responsibilities to the University System in 1963 to 1974.

A broad spectrum of the political ,professional ,educational interest later name the carter commission which was represented by the appointed committee which recommended the employment of a system director of the personnel .For the establishment of a state wide educational system the development of the comprehensive personnel system would provided From the university staff the trustees voted to physically separate the university staff. The newly designated USNH staff in 1974 moved five miles west of Durham in lee.To create the position of chancellor the trustees also had the legislation passed and signed.he chancellor was established as the chief executive and chief academic officer of the system to oversee the head of each institution, and is elected and answerable to the Trustees.
